History of the Lakeshore Swimming Pool

     The initial signup meeting and membership blitz occurred in 1969

with canvassing in the Henderson area. A seven page proposal was drawn up and

distributed to 1100 homes in the area. Estimated cost of construction was 80,000 dollars

(400 families at 200.00 each.)

     A board of directors was elected. With the help of grants and initial financial contributions

from the membership Lakeshore Pool’s construction could begin. After overcoming several hurdles

along the way construction started in January 1970 and ended in 1971.At the opening ceremony

there was a skydiver who landed at the pool and the ribbon cutting was performed
